Welcoming Doug Rappoport, Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake)…and Ike Willis to the family!
Doug’s main gig has been with Edgar Winter for the last 15 years, he has built up a reputation in the guitar world as one hell of a player, with his thick-sounding tone and blues-rock licking with a fierce attitude. On plugging in Channel 1 of a M ZERO Overdrive, he was surprised by how easy it was to get a classic-semi-distorted-yet clean sound from his Les Paul, ala Kossoff, where the tone of the guitar was not compromised in any way, a perfect sound for his style!
Joel was impressed by the Overdrive Channel of the M ZERO… it sounded like John Sykes’ tone…he said it was smooth-creamy and musical distortion, with no need for pedals. Dave Coverdale commented on the sound of the amp as well, it’s the sound he LIKES.
Ike Willis (F. Zappa) loves a total clean sounding amp, and not one that’s too loud, since he places his amp/cab right next to him on stage. The clean channel of the Skill is what he likes, a perfect clean tone and usable volume. A chorus pedal and a Ibanez TS-9 Overdrive are his main pedals, the sounds he gets from the amp are pure tone-heaven.
He says: “I’m playing Mezzabarba amps and I’m having a great time! They sound fantastic, I love them and you should love them too.”
